I had a dream I found out that I was pregnant. I was in a relationship with a man I loved and we were both excited about the news. We ran into a friend at the mall and she was excited to hear about the news, too, and she accompanied us to a maternity store, where she picked out an outfit for me. We were giddy and having fun. For some reason, we had to get the test results typed up by someone professional, maybe to be notarized? We had to pay for them and I was waiting in line at the checkout and it suddenly became very aware to me that it was the 1980s, and I had some her stumbled into the past. I made sure to pay in cash instead of using a debit card, but the click put my papers in amongst a bunch of other papers and asked me to find them. A young Fran Drescher helped me find them, and I was relieved. We were staying with my parents and I was excited to tell them so I left a little messages with prenatal hair care products, or something scattered around the bathroom. I woke to find that all of the products had been removed and put away. I woke up before I got their reaction. If bears mentioning that in actuality, when I was 27 I was diagnosed with a heart condition that my cardiologist said, made it to risky for me to become pregnant, that it could actually be fatal. She said at the time that if I really wanted to have a baby, they could work out a plan and we could have me have surgery on my heart first. Last week I went to the cardiologist and she told me I had to have the heart surgery. But right now I’m single and I’m pretty sure too old to ever have a baby anyway. It’s OK, it’s probably the choice I would’ve made anyway, to not have kids.
Dreams about pregnancy can often be symbolic and might not directly relate to the actual act of having a baby. In your dream, the pregnancy seems to symbolize something new, exciting, and joyful that is entering or about to enter your life. This could represent new opportunities, personal growth, or a new phase in your life.
Interpretation of Different Elements in the Dream:
Pregnancy and Relationship: Being pregnant in a dream often symbolizes a new beginning or a budding idea. The fact that you were in a happy and loving relationship in the dream, with both partners excited, could reflect a desire for intimacy and companionship. It may also signify an aspect of your life where you feel fulfilled and content.
Friend's Excitement: Your friend's excitement and support in the dream suggests that whatever new phase or change this pregnancy represents is something that is supported by those around you. It could indicate that you have a strong support network in your waking life.
Shopping for Maternity Clothes and the 1980s: Going to a maternity store and picking out clothes can symbolize preparation for new experiences. The shift to the 1980s might suggest nostalgia or a longing for a simpler time in your life. It could be a period when you felt things were more tangible and secure, which is why you opted to pay in cash instead of using modern technology.
Fran Drescher's Appearance: Fran Drescher, particularly from her role in the 1980s show "The Nanny," symbolizes a mix of humor and unexpected help. This part of the dream may indicate that you will receive help or guidance in unexpected ways or from unexpected places in your life.
Communicating with Parents: The desire to communicate the news to your parents expresses your need for their approval or involvement in your life changes. The removal of the message from the bathroom might indicate a fear of misunderstanding or rejection, or perhaps a feeling that your efforts to communicate are not reaching them.
Connection to Real Life Heart Condition: Your real-life heart condition and the recent decision about heart surgery is significant in interpreting this dream. The dream might be processing your feelings about the choices you’ve made and the ones imposed upon you by your medical condition. The excitement about the pregnancy in the dream could symbolize hope and resilience. It can reflect the acceptance of taking steps towards improving your health, which, much like nurturing a life, requires care and attention.
Overall, your dream seems to be encouraging you to embrace new changes and trust in the support system you have, while also acknowledging the challenges you've faced with your heart condition. It suggests reflecting on your past with nostalgia, but also looking forward to new opportunities and growth in your life. Even if the path isn’t what you originally envisioned, it holds its own joys and adventures.
